Irish Setter Club of Central Connecticut
Our club was founded in 1970 by a group of Irish Setter breeders in Connecticut. Since then, ISCCC has grown to include members from New England to New Jersey.
Our mission is to foster support for the breed that we love through AKC sanctioned events & our far reaching rescue program. We do this by conducting specialty shows, obedience trials, field trials & other events. Our membership has grown to be a varied group. We are proud & honored to have had the 1995 & 2002 #1 Irish Setters in the U.S. bred & owned by club members. We also have members who compete in obedience, hunt tests & agility. Several of our dogs are Certified Therapy Dogs. We have members who joined because they adopted a Rescue Irish from us & wanted to be part of our group. Some members no longer have an Irish Setter, but want to stay in touch with the breed. All of these members bring their own unique viewpoint to the group & help us to explore all aspects of our wonderful red dogs. Each year the club sponsors a dog at N.E.A.D.S.in training to become a Service Dog.
We have bimonthly membership meetings at various locations in Connecticut. We hold two conformation Specialty shows, in May & October. We march with our Irish in the Hartford St. Patrick's Day parade. We sponsor an All-Setter Symposium in April that offers classes in show handling, obedience, field work & grooming. See the Events Calendar for a schedule of our activities. We welcome your participation at any event. If you are interested in membership, please download our membership application, fill it out and return it to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our club newsletter, the Gaelwinds, is published quarterly. The volunteer staff fills each edition with the minutes of our meetings, show results, health & training articles, members' news & brags, & even cartoons.
